This role works closely with the dental team to support positive patient outcomes while maintaining strong infection control and documentation standards. Key Responsibilities Perform oral prophylaxis and periodontal treatments, including scaling, root planning, and curettage Apply topical fluorides and provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care Conduct patient screenings, including caries detection, periodontal assessment, and medical history review Take, process, and mount dental radiographs in accordance with ALARA guidelines Administer local anesthetics and assist with periodontal surgical procedures Provide gross debridement for acute periodontal conditions Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic health record Support infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting operatories, and following OSHA and TJC guidelines Monitor and manage hygiene supply inventory Maintain patient recall systems and support continuity of care Assist in training dental staff in basic clinical skills, radiography, sterilization, and chairside support Identify potential medical or social concerns impacting patient care and escalate as appropriate Support and promote dental prevention and patient education programs Requirements State of Colorado Licensure of Dental Hygiene Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene 1-2 years’ experience working in a dental clinic environment desired.
