The WOC nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for patients with gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary disorders. They provide the full scope of WOC nursing practice, including patient education, counseling, research, and administrative duties.
Candidates must hold a current registered nurse license in Virginia and possess 3-5 years of related experience. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required, along with WOCNCB certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.
The Wound Ostomy Continence (WOC) nurse serves as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal genitourinary and integumentary systems (e.g. complex draining wounds ostomies fistulae dermal ulcers tubes). The WOC nurse should be prepared to provide the full scope of WOC nursing practice including education counseling research and administration.
