The Advanced Pharmacy Technician is responsible for compounding sterile medications, processing prescription orders, and managing pharmacy inventory within an investigational drug services environment. They ensure safe and accurate medication distribution while adhering to strict pharmacy policies and quality assurance standards.
Candidates must be a certified pharmacy technician with at least one year of experience in parenteral/enteral and intravenous medication preparation. Proficiency in aseptic technique, pharmaceutical law, and drug terminology is required, along with active Illinois technician licensure.

As an Advanced Pharmacy Technician, you will join a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where the team works together for a shared purpose. Advanced Pharmacy Technicians play an essential role in the medication use process. They are responsible for compounding parenteral medications in a newly constructed clean room, processing medication orders, and ensuring patients have their medications when requested.
Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $2,500
As an Advanced Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for the order entry of prescriptions, preparation of investigational drugs and other infusion medications, pharmacy purchasing and inventory control, disposable supplies and related activities under the direction of a pharmacist. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the provision of safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution and reliable pharmaceutical care.
We anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the day shift, 8.5-hour shifts, ranging from 7:30am-6pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday-Friday.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
