The Genetic Counselor assists patients and families in understanding the implications of inherited diseases, particularly in oncology. They are responsible for coordinating the Genetic Program, facilitating support groups, and conducting community health promotion programs.
Candidates must hold a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling and be certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Current licensure to practice in the State of Pennsylvania is required.
Graduate of an accredited program in genetic counseling Current licensure to practice in the State of Pennsylvania Master of Science Degree in Genetic Counseling Demonstrated experience in the area of Inherited Cancer Susceptibility syndromes preferred Membership in the National Society of Genetics Counselors or similar Professional organization is preferred Proficient in use of personal computer programs including word processing and data management programs LICENSE AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling
