The Certified Medical Assistant prepares patients for exams, collects medical history, and assists providers with clinical tasks and administrative documentation. They are also responsible for maintaining exam rooms, managing medical supplies, and facilitating communication through medical translation.
Candidates must hold a Medical Assistant diploma or certificate and possess at least five years of experience in a professional medical office. Proficiency in medical translation and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred.
Position Description: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Position
This position requires compliance with the Center’s Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and applicable policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of a regular performance appraisal. Failure to comply with the Center’s standards, including the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.
1. Prepares patients for the appointment by bringing them to an exam room, recording the patient’s medical history, taking vitals,etc. Ensures all paperwork before, during, and after the patient’s visit is correctly handled and filed to enable proper billing.
2. Assistswith patient care as directed by the medical provider. Accurately translates tofacilitatemedical provider/patient communication whenappropriate.
3. Administers injections, such as vaccines, as directed by a medical provider andin accordance withLuneraHealthprotocols.
4. Maintainsan accurateknowledge of all procedures offered and the components of the Medical Assistant’s role in each.Participatesin all stafftrainingsregardingnew procedures and services.
5. Prepares exam rooms for patient treatment as perLuneraHealthprotocols. Maintains/cleans all exam rooms in compliance withLuneraHealthprotocols and proceduresrelativeto infection control, exposurecontroland safety issues.
6. Maintains adequate medical supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes as assigned.
7. Maintains patient records in the electronic medical records system, monitors patient flow, andassiststhe medical providers in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed andentered intothe electronic medical records system.
8. Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters,clinicbusinessand patient care. Followsup on these callspromptly and directs calls to theappropriate personnelwhen necessary.
9. Participates inappropriate healthpromotion/disease prevention activities and outreach efforts, both on-site and off-site asrequired.
10. As directed by a supervisor,performsother related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals andobjectives.

2. Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate
3. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferable
4. Certified in medical translation or 2-3 years of experience translating in a medical office
5. Fiveyears of experience in a professional medical office
