The Medical Assistant will support the Registered Nurse and Radiation Oncologist with daily clinic operations, including patient assessments and vital sign collection. They are also responsible for scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate medical records.
Candidates must hold a High School Diploma and a current CMA certification from a national testing agency. A minimum of two years of clinic experience and BLS CPR certification are required.
SCOPE: Assist Registered Nurse/Radiation Oncologist with daily clinic responsibilities. This includes obtaining patient medical information from various medical facilities and the patient to ensure a complete and accurate medical record. Schedules and coordinates appointments for special procedures and other testing. Obtains vital signs and completes nursing assessments for all patient visits. FUNCTIONS: 1. Obtaining Vital Signs/completing Nursing Assessments 2. Scheduling/Coordinating appointments 3. Collecting medical records for scheduled appointments 4. Performs medical record scanning 5. Other Duties as Assigned QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent Assisting in a clinic for 2 years or more preferred Oncology clinic experience highly preferred CMA (certified medical assistant) certification required from a national testing agency (NHA, NCCT, AAMA, NAHP etc.) BLS CPR certification required For more than 50 years, the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has provided the highest quality care to our patients.
