The medical coder is responsible for assigning accurate procedure and diagnosis codes using specialized software while ensuring compliance with legal and insurance requirements. They also conduct audits, resolve denied claims, and collaborate with the business office to ensure timely billing.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and an associate's degree or certificate in medical coding, along with at least 1-3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-9/10, CPT, and CMS regulations is required.
A minimum of 1 year coding experience required, preferably with psychiatric services. Understanding of Medical Terminology required. A minimum of 2-3 years experience working in a Medical office. At least 1 year experience working in a Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. The ability to work without supervision
