Responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating direct patient care for pediatric patients using the nursing process. Key duties include triaging medical calls, administering immunizations, and coordinating patient flow and laboratory results.
Requires completion of an accredited nursing program, current Massachusetts licensure, and BLS certification. Candidates should have three to six months of experience in the field.
Three 7-hour shifts. Two Saturdays a month 9-4, the other days will be Wed and Thursday 9a-4p, the weeks without Saturday will be flexible for the one day and dependent on business needs. Candidate would know their schedule months in advance. There is also some opportunity to pick up extra hours if there are sick calls, someone out on leave etc. I. Major
1. Assesses and supervises patient care following standard procedure. Assists in development of patient care standards and resolves discrepancies with physicians and others. 2. Reviews chart documentation as required or directed. 3. Establishes recall system for physical examinations, paps, abnormal tests and related results. 4. Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examination. Prepares patient for office and laboratory procedures as required. Assists physician, NP, PA and others as required or directed. 5. Takes vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, height and temperature. Evaluates patient. Documents information as required. 6. Performs and records laboratory results as required. Documents readings as required. Ensures laboratory results area received, reviewed and acted upon as required. Resolves discrepancies with physician and others. 7. Triages medical calls following prescribed protocols and guidelines. Documents treatment and presents to physician for review. Ensures follow-up. Provides patient education. 8. Calls prescriptions and refills as required. Documents prescription calls as required. 9. Performs med counts and notifies provider of necessary refills in timely manner. Monitors medications from pharmacy to assure that they match prescriptions and med administration orders correctly. 10. Works well in a team, communicating well and negotiating shared responsibilities with other team members. 11. Demonstrates good communication skills with patients, co-workers, and agencies or providers in the community or who will be involved in the care of our patients. 12. Prepares, administers and documents immunizations, injections and laboratory tests following standard procedure. 13. Coordinates measures for compliance with OSHA regulations as required or directed. 14. Maintains supplies and pharmaceuticals as required. Orders supplies as required or directed. License/Certification/Education: Required: 1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing. 2. Completion of an accredited school of nursing program. 3. Current Massachusetts licensure and registration. 4. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless an advance certification is current (ex ACLS, PALS, NRP).
