The Certified Medical Assistant supports medical staff by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks, including rooming patients and documenting data in the electronic medical record. They assist physicians and ancillary personnel while providing care under the direction of an RN.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and have successfully completed a Certified Medical Assistant program with certification from the AAMA. Proficiency in computer applications and the ability to obtain BLS certification within three months are required.
The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record. Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies. Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Required: High School Diploma/GED Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) BLS (within 90 days) Computer proficiency (Microsoft applications preferred) Experience in or ability to learn the electronic medical record Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and providing personal service for pediatric to adult patients and their families; emergency protocols; knowledge of proper lifting; ability to perceive patient reactions to simple treatments, etc.; customer service.
Previous experience in Orthopedics as a medical assistant (pediatric setting preferred) a plus Experience with casting Bilingual English/Spanish
