Requires a degree ranging from High School Diploma to Master's Degree, with corresponding years of research experience (0-6 years depending on education). Prior experience with mouse handling or microbial culture is strongly preferred.
JOB SUMMARY Works under general direction to provide responsible and skilled technical assistance in performing assignments requiring experience and good knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of medical and scientific research.
of the research assistant include mouse colony management, bacterial culture; molecular techniques such as PCR and cloning; in vivo mouse experiments utilizing techniques such as oral gavage; harvesting and processing of mouse tissues; and performing basic data analysis. The successful candidate is expected to work under the direction of the investigator. While prior research experience with either mouse handling and/or microbial culture is strongly preferred, this position will involve on-the-job training and acquisition of new skills. Other expectations of this position include attending and presenting data during lab meetings, actively engage in project discussions, attending seminars, and assisting other members of the lab as needed.

Required Education Master's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required or Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment or Completion of 2 years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience 1 year Research experience at level of Research Technician or equivalent with Bachelor's degree or 4 years Research experience including two years at level of Research Technician or equivalent with 2 years of college or 6 years Research experience with High School Diploma or GED equivalent including 2 years at level of Research Technician or equivalent.
