Provide rehabilitative services to injured or disabled patients under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist. Assist patients in recovering daily living skills and document progress according to facility procedures.
Must be a graduate of an accredited therapy program with current COTA licensure and CPR certification. Requires 2-3 years of related experience and the physical stamina to lift up to 50lbs.
Provides services under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist. Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as the proper method of transferring from a bed into a wheelchair and the best way to stretch and limber muscles. Evaluates the living skills and capabilities of physically, developmentally, and emotionally disabled patients. Assists in the selection of activities and the development of treatment plans to help patients to function independently. Observe, monitor, and record patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior, provide superiors feedback, and recommend changes to their treatment plans. Instructs patients and their families on in-home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment. Performs routine tasks, such as helping patients achieve stretches and teaching patients to use specific equipment. Uses various tools and equipment, such as special lifts or pulleys, to move patients. Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism at all times. Holds themselves accountable and encourage collaboration and flexibility within the department and interdepartmental teamwork for positive outcomes.
Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Licenses/Certifications: Current COTA licensure, CPR certification.
