The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for collecting blood, urine, throat, and nasal specimens while ensuring proper patient identification and specimen integrity. They also process specimens for internal distribution or shipment to reference laboratories and maintain departmental supply levels.
A high school diploma and phlebotomy certification are preferred for this role. Candidates must be able to perform various collection techniques and coordinate with nursing staff for therapeutic drug monitoring.
