Provides specialized support in the diagnosis and management of orthopedic conditions, including the application of casts, braces, and splints. Assists providers in surgical procedures and instructs patients on the use of orthopedic devices and exercises.
Requires a High School Diploma and 2-3 years of related patient care experience. BLS and Orthopaedic Technologist Certification are preferred, with the latter strongly preferred within one year of hire.
General knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices. - Working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances and proper fitting. - Knowledge of medical terminology pertaining to orthopedics use. - Communicate effectively when instructing patients in the use and care of orthopedic devices and appliances. - Maintain effective working relationships with practitioners and other health center support staff. - Be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients Strongly Preferred Ortho Tech Certification obtained within 1 year of hire . Additional Job Details (if applicable) Our practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The 40-hour weekly schedule is staggered based on the needs of the practice. In addition, there may be opportunities for cross-coverage at our on-site Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic, which operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm. This role encourages flexibility, with the ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
