Pediatric Dental Assistant -West End

Virginia Family Dentistry is looking for a Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our West End Specialty team!

Pay range is $17-$25/hour based on experience. Typical work hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday-Friday.

The assistant must have knowledge of dental procedures, x-ray certification, OSHA regulations and State Board requirements. Must be willing to work in and be part of the larger team and communicate effectively with doctors, employees, and patients.

• Essential Job Functions
• Provide chairside assistance to the dentists
• Take x-rays
• Stock, organize, and disinfect operatories
• Ensure instrument sterilization and proper infection control protocol
• Review the doctor’s schedule daily, set up and prepare for patient appointments with needed supplies, lab cases, implants and other necessary items
• Input treatment plan given by the doctor
• Keep the schedule on time and communicate with the front desk
• Maintain a lab tracking system to ensure all lab work is ready for the patients’ appointment
• Ordering and unpacking supplies
• Collaborate with the doctor scheduler on schedules and maintaining the unscheduled list by following up with the patients and needed treatment
• Help the administrative staff as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• X-ray certification
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications: -1 year or more of pediatric dental experience or completion of a dental assisting program

• Assist in lifting patients into the operatory chair from a wheelchair.

• Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
• Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
