Assist providers with patient assessment, care, and education within an urgent care and occupational health setting. Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, lab tests, EKG, and DOT drug and alcohol testing while maintaining medical records.
Requires a high school diploma and a valid Medical Assistant certification (RMA, CMA, or equivalent) or specific emergency medical licensure. BLS certification is required within three months of hire, and previous experience in urgent care or occupational health is preferred.
Certifications and Licensures
BLS: Basic Life Support
Within 3 months of hire or transfer MA CERT: Medical Assistant
As required by Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to be employed through MyMichigan Health all Medical Assistants must possess one of the following active certification/licensure: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.) Medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Tech Basic/Specialist, or Paramedic though the State of Michigan Registered Radiologic Technologist through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt
Within 6 months of hire or transfer (Employees who are in this position on or before 12/31/2023 will have 24 months to complete this certification) **Prefer completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited organization
Required Education: High school diploma or GED is required
