- Assistant: The Certified-Registered Medical Assistant (MA) provides professional care through the application of clinical skills and processes to assigned patients. This individual provides direct care and works collaboratively with other members of the care team to achieve optimal patient care. This incumbent has access to confidential patient information, provides direct patient care, and functions clinically under the direct supervision of the physician. If working in a Scribe role this individual enters information into the Electronic Medical Record or Chart at the direction of a physician or licensed independent practitioner. The Scribe does not and may not act independently but documents the physician's or licensed independent practitioner's dictation and/or activities. This incumbent also reports to the practice manager or designee.
