Responsible for performing Anatomic Pathology laboratory testing and processing specimens through all analytical phases. Duties include maintaining instruments, managing inventory, and participating in the department's Quality Assurance Program.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Biology and current New York State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Experience in Histology is preferred but not required.
Responsible for performing Anatomic Pathology laboratory testing and other routine tasks associated with the department. Job Responsibilities: Able to process all Anatomic Pathology specimens through pre-analytical, analytical, post-analytical phases. Able to accept receipt of irretrievable specimens (i.e., Anatomic and Clinical Pathology) as per established protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of the Cerner laboratory Information System through day-to-day use as well as any other appropriate special functionalities. Participates with the department’s Quality Assurance Program including but not limited to: Quality Control Preventative Maintenance and repair of instruments Proficiency testing Responsible for inventory control of routine stock items. Demonstrates knowledge and openly reinforces established hospital and safety protocols. Assists in teaching/mentoring students, new employees. Interfaces with other clinical sections and hospital departments. Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and/or Biology- Required 0-2 years Histology experience preferred Current licensure to practice in New York State as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Computer literate
