Position Summary
The Emergency Services Clinician (LMHP or LMHP-E) will respond to requests from the agency and the community for crisis intervention services, to include limited term crisis Intervention information and referral to community resources. and/or pre-admission screening for inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. This position will also develop working relationships with area hospitals, schools, social services, law enforcement and other community partners; by actively providing consultation, support and education.
- Required Education and Experience
- Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program), which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.1-3500 of the Code of Virginia)
- No experience required.
- Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage, Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency.
- LPC LCSW or LMFT preferred.
Note
New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.

- Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual treatment and access the community resources.
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

- Communicate clinical finding related to clients to both internal and external audiences.

- Ability to complete all Emergency Services and Pre-Screener Training modules within specified timeframe.
- Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
- Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
- Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.
- May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations.
- Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
