The optometrist is responsible for conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing sight problems and diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses or medications. They must establish long-term patient relationships through education and provide pre- and postoperative care for surgical patients.
Candidates must hold a Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution. Additionally, they must have successfully passed all relevant optometric state boards.
