The role involves preparing patients for exams, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with daily clinical activities. Responsibilities also include administering medications, collecting lab specimens, and documenting patient information in electronic health records.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with a certificate, diploma, or associate degree. A valid certification or registration from a recognized body such as the NHA, AAMA, or NCCT is required.
Prepare patients for appointments, exams, and minor procedures Obtain vital signs, patient history, and other clinical information Assist providers and clinical staff with daily patient care activities Administer medications and vaccines as ordered Collect and prepare lab specimens for testing as needed Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and patient care tracking Document patient information accurately within the electronic health record Provide education and answer questions for patients and family members Support a positive, collaborative clinic environment focused on excellent patient care Maintain compliance with clinic, safety, privacy, and regulatory standards
Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) License(s)/Certification(s): Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required: National Healthcareer Association American Association of Medical Assistants National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant National Association of Health Professionals American Registry of Medical Assistants American Allied Health American Medical Technologists Certified Medical Administrative Assistant through the National Healthcareer Association
