Administers and coordinates prescribed respiratory therapies, including the management of ventilation patients and the performance of bronchoscopies. Responsible for charting drug effects, reporting patient acuity, and providing direct care in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
Requires a Florida license for Registered Respiratory Therapists and BLS certification. Candidates must be graduates of a two-year accredited Respiratory Care program with 1-2 years of experience in intensive care and ABG analysis.
Summary: Sign On Bonus: Up to $15K Position Responsibilities Administers & Coordinates medical prescribed therapy as assigned. Prioritizes Patient therapy according to patient acuity on a daily basis. Accountable for administration, observation, charting and reporting effects of drugs, oxygen respiratory treatments and other theraputic and diagnostic measures. Completes assignments on a timely basis while adapting to changing workloads when required. Maintains standard shift productivity. Demostrates knowledge of indications, contraindications, hazards and troubleshooting of all treatments as assigned. Demonstrates effective and efficient care through clinical competencies at least annually. Demonstrates competency in drawing and/or running arterial blood gases at least annually. Completes all forms in electronic medical record and departmental records accurately and legibly according to hospital/departmental policy and procedure. Communicates pertinent information at shift report. Fulfills on call resposibilities according to departmental policy. Participates in critical care program as an educator. Monitors ventilation patients according to departmental standards. Demonstrates ability to teach and educate patient and family according to departmental policies and procedures. Uses supplies, equipment and resources in a cost effective manner. Is competent and can perform Bronchoscopies as assigned Is competent and can perform all duties related to the care of patients in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Assists Department in Respiratory Student rotations. All related as necessary Provides direct assistance to patients and co-workers as assigned by the Clinical Manager. Demonstrates competency in performing 12 Lead EKG. Demonstates knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de escalation and physical intervention (i.e. mental health, Baker Act, etc). Successfully completes CPI training and provides assistance with aggressive patients. Anticipates patients needs, provides customer service. Demonstrates competency in obtaining vital signs, identifying abnormal values and reporting findings. Provides 1:1 (sitter) care for patients as needed. Transports patients for tests, procedures, etc as needed. Assist with all patient care needs as assigned. Qualifications License/Registration/Certification Florida license for Registered Respiratory Therapist. BLS Certification.
