The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for creating high-quality diagnostic images and performing therapeutic procedures for patients. They must coordinate with the healthcare team, maintain equipment standards, and accurately document clinical findings for radiologists.
Candidates must be ARDMS registered in one specialty or ARRT RT (S) within 90 days and hold a Basic Life Support certification. ARDMS registration in multiple specialties is preferred.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Performs examinations with technical accuracy and in a timely manner. Verifies patient identification and documentation Reviews physician order prior to exam or procedure. Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate health care professional. Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol. Communicates with and educates patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam Recognizes structures visualized and understands their significance. Accurately produces and records measurements according to protocols. Accurately conveys initial findings and clinical data to radiologists. Participates in creating a culture of patient safety Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness for facility Ensures patient data integrity Accurately completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, billing, and status changes in a timely fashion. Performs accurate image identification, record preparation, and digital image manipulation and archiving. Assembles similar relevant exams and reports. Documents initial and ongoing data, interventions, responses/results, or interventions consistent with established policies/procedures/guidelines.
