The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, and delivery of nursing care for high-risk and low-risk pregnant mothers. This includes coordinating care with health teams and floating across multiple clinic locations to support patient outcomes.
Requires a MN Registered Nurse license, BLS certification, and a completed fetal monitoring course. Candidates must have at least two years of Level II/III Labor and Delivery experience or three years of Maternal Fetal Medicine experience.
Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs. Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes. Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes. Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) Assessment of the low risk and high-risk pregnant mother/family Required Qualifications MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Minimum two years of full-time Level II or Level III Labor and Delivery RN experience and/or 3 years of Maternal Fetal Medicine experience. Successful completion of a fetal monitoring course that provides overview of intrapartum fetal monitoring, including the maternal-fetal oxygenation pathway, assessing uterine activity and recognizing, interpreting, and managing FHR patterns. MFM RN is able to define the characteristics of FHR and uterine activity obtained via auscultation. palpation, and EFM methods and interpret electronic FHR and uterine patterns.
