The Medical Assistant assists in patient examination and treatment under a Provider's direction, handling patient care duties such as answering questions, providing education, and documenting all interactions. Clinically, the role involves administering injections, medications, vaccinations, and blood draws, while also managing room preparation and sterilization.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, along with required MA Registration or Certification and CPR certification. Essential abilities include strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the capacity to learn practice management systems and electronic medical records.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. MA Registration or Certification required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Job Descriptions Manual REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to gain knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CPR certification required. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required. OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Ability to speak Spanish desirable. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill with geriatric patients and patients in lower socio-economic sectors of the community.
