This role involves performing phlebotomy procedures and processing specimens accurately while delivering age-appropriate patient care. The assistant will also handle various laboratory aid, receptionist, clerical, and administrative duties.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED, or be in their senior year enrolled in a COOP program, along with required data entry and typing skills. Some knowledge of medical terminology is preferred, and certification can lead to a higher pay grade.

Performs phlebotomy procedures and processes specimens in a safe, accurate and professional manner. Delivers patient care in a manner that is appropriate to patient age, physical ability, and intellectual development. Interacts with all types of patients, volunteers, and coworkers in a pleasant, efficient and cooperative manner. Monitors patients for unexpected reactions and responds to emergency situations as required. Provides and receives constructive feedback from laboratory leadership members. Works collaboratively with laboratory and hospital staff to provide efficient and timely collection and transport of samples. Able to assess the patient’s age specific needs and appropriately collect the patient’s samples. Responsible for a variety of Lab Aid, receptionist, clerical, and administrative assistant duties. EDUCATION: High School diploma, GED, or an individual in their senior year and enrolled in COOP program or other equivalent clinical practice training. Some knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Enthusiastic personality with excellent customer service and people skills. Data entry and typing skills required. Phlebotomists with certification are assigned to higher pay grade. EXPERIENCE: Data entry requires up to 6 months to 1 year of directly related experience to be proficient. Up to 6 months on-the-job experience to be proficient. SCHEDULE: This role is for evening shift from 2:30pm - 11:00 pm. Weekend duty rotates every other week.
