The role also involves performing pregnancy tests, logging specimens, checking requisitions, managing phone calls, and interacting courteously with patients and healthcare professionals.
Candidates must maintain proficiency in phlebotomy procedures, demonstrate initiative, good judgment, courtesy, and patience while ensuring dependable job performance and attendance. A mandatory requirement is the ability to travel between Lafayette locations for the full 40-hour work week.
Phlebotomists in our primary care labs see a diverse population of patients. You will work and train at the top of your scope to provide support, working closely with our skilled team of MA's, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Doctors.
· Evaluates and analyzes specimens obtained for testing following department policies and procedures.
· Follows and documents departmentally established quality control procedures taking corrective action when necessary, while notifying supervisor of inconsistencies.
· Performs equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and inventory control tasks.
· Maintains proficiency in phlebotomy procedures.
· Reads and records refrigerator temperatures as per procedures.
· Demonstrates initiative and good judgment, courtesy and patience in carrying out job duties.
· Exhibits dependable job performance and attendance.
· Properly logs and prepares specimens for ISHD.
· Performs and logs State pregnancy tests and insures adequate working inventory of test materials.
· Checks all original lab requisitions for completeness.
· Courteously manages and/or redirects phone calls received in the laboratory.
· Interacts with other health care professions, patients and their families.
· Maintains confidentiality of all patient related information accessed
***Must be able to travel between Lafayette locations
40 hours/week. No Overtime. 8-5 or 9-6 with limited Saturday Rotation
