The primary duties involve performing blood draws and assessing vital signs on adult patients enrolled in research studies who require postoperative home visits. This includes ensuring accurate patient identification, proper sample processing according to study protocols, and maintaining strict infection control guidelines.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, required Phlebotomy certification, and certification in obtaining vital signs. Essential skills include knowledge of aseptic techniques, understanding of vein anatomy, and strong customer service abilities for interacting with patients and staff.

Knowledge and practice of proper aseptic techniques necessary to prevent injury to self and patients. 2. Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of veins. 3. Knowledge to select appropriate tubes and volumes for test(s) requested. 4. Ability to communicate with patients, patients’ families, and extended families to alleviate fears and anxieties and make them feel comfortable and cared for. 5. Obtain vital signs. 6. Validate competencies in areas of: Venipuncture technique and all blood drawing procedures. Appropriate choice of test tube and required blood volumes. Specimen labeling and patient identification. Customer service skills to include ability to communicate with patients and staff.
