SUMMARY Under the general supervision of a physician or administrator, performs medical examinations, selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks, and other special procedures to assist in the delivery of medical services to patients.
The Bariatric Surgery APP provides comprehensive care across the surgical continuum, including operating room assistance, inpatient management, and outpatient services for bariatric and select general surgery patients.

Interacts on a frequent, regular and daily basis with patients, family members, medical/social/public services support, regulatory agencies and/or payor agencies.
Interaction and communication requires expressed empathy, understanding, problem-solving, education, information gathering, process influencing and counseling.
Provides care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including pre-operative education, post-operative follow-up, and ongoing support for bariatric patients.
Medication & Orders.
Prescribe medication, write orders, perform procedures and respond to emergency and/or immediate condition changes of acute, critically ill patients.
Manage ambulatory responsibilities including patient calls, electronic messages (e.g., MyCare), and prescription refills.
Documentation.
Obtain complete, detailed and accurate patient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients.
Clinical & Surgical Support.
Assist in the operating room for bariatric procedures including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, revisions, and duodenal switch, as well as select general surgery cases.
Assist surgeons with endoscopic procedures.
Provide inpatient care including post-operative management, consults, rounding, and discharges.
Outpatient Care.
Conduct office visits including pre-operative evaluations, post-operative follow-ups, problem-focused visits, lab reviews, and scope follow-ups.
Daily responsibilities may vary between clinic and operating room, with an average of two OR days and two office days per week.
Call Coverage.
Participate in a 1:5 weekend call rotation and rotating holiday coverage.
Responsibilities include managing answering service calls, addressing consults, and rounding on hospitalized patients as needed.
Team Collaboration.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including four bariatric surgery APPs, one office-based/medical weight loss APP, and three bariatric surgeons.
Assignments vary day-to-day between operating room and office-based care.

PAY RANGE: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
