The Speech Language Pathologist plans, directs, coordinates, and performs high-quality speech and language pathology services, including assessing patient needs, diagnosing disorders, and establishing treatment plans in consultation with a physician. Responsibilities also involve educating patients/families, communicating findings to doctors, participating in discharge planning, and maintaining thorough daily documentation of all care provided.
A Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology is required, along with the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech & Language Pathology from ASHA and a valid Texas state license. While no prior experience is required, previous therapy experience is preferred, and Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
