An Occupational Therapist assists patients in minimizing disability and developing the necessary skills and attitudes to increase independent functioning, often for orthopedic and neurologic diagnoses. Responsibilities include planning and implementing rehabilitation services such as counseling and orientation to improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions resulting from injury or disease.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program, with a Master's or Doctorate preferred, and must possess an active Missouri Occupational Therapy licensure. Required skills include good clinical expertise, communication, human relations, and organizational skills, along with being self-motivated to work independently.
