The NP/PA will manage a caseload of critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions, exercising autonomous decision-making in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. They will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including discharge planning and patient education.
Candidates must hold a Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or a Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. Current Vermont licensure, national certification, and BLS/ACLS/DEA certifications are required.
Min $67.22 Mid $79.68 Max $92.14 Recruiter: Arianna Biondo University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) in Burlington, Vermont is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiovascular Critical Care (CVICU) team. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity ICU at Vermont’s only academic medical center, working collaboratively with intensivists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and multidisciplinary care teams. What You’ll Do · Provide primary APP coverage for critically ill cardiovascular patients · Perform advanced assessments, diagnoses, and delegated medical treatments · Manage daily patient care, including treatment planning, discharge coordination, and patient/family education · Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary CVICU team · Participate in quality improvement, research, and academic education initiatives Schedule · 1.0 FTE, full-time · 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) · CVICU coverage 7 days/week, including weekends and holidays · Overnight coverage currently provided by attendings and residents (Future APP night or swing shifts may be added as the service grows) Experience & Qualifications · Minimum 1 year of critical care experience preferred · Cardiovascular critical care experience strongly preferred · ECMO experience highly desirable · Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills · Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU environment Education & Licensure For the Nurse Practitioner: · Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program with specialization in Acute Care or Critical Care. · Current or eligible Vermont state licensure as an NP; National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP). · BLS and ACLS certification required and DEA registration for prescriptive authority. For the Physician Assistant: · Master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. · Current or eligible Vermont state licensure as PA; National certification as Physician Assistant (PA-C). · BLS and ACLS certification required and DEA registration for prescriptive authority.
