The phlebotomist performs specimen collection procedures and manages order entry, billing, and clinical report distribution. They also assist with specimen processing and may perform instrument maintenance and quality control tasks.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma and BLS/CPR certification. Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred for this role.
The phlebotomist performs venipuncture, skin puncture, and specimen collection procedures, managing order entry and billing by assessing medical necessity, and handling various office tasks like answering phones, typing, and filing. They distribute clinical reports, assist with specimen processing, and may perform patient registration. The position includes conducting waived kit testing, micro set-ups, loading specimens onto instruments, and possibly performing instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control depending on the shift. This role requires access to confidential patient information, emphasizing the importance of ethical behavior and respect for security and privacy.
