Occupational Therapist - Outpatient - North Hospital

• The Occupational Therapist II job conducts evaluations on referred patients.
• This job plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care.
• This job documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.
• The Occupational Therapist II job participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team.
• This job may provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed.
• This job may also provide training and education to department and hospital staff.
• Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year of work experience as an Occupational Therapist Experience PREFERRED: Previous experience with evaluations and interventions (physical and psycho-social) Education/training REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy Education/training PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy Successful challenge of the VCUHS Occupational Therapy Clinical Ladder Independent action(s) required: Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
• Setting schedule and managing time.
• Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
• Completion of routine documentation.
• Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
• Customer interaction.
• Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technician, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.
• Additional position requirements: Cross-coverage to other treatment teams as needed.
• Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis and flexibility in work hours as needed to accommodate departmental needs as applicable.
• Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.
• Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 50-100 lbs.
