Provide comprehensive pre, intra, and post-procedure care for vascular, radiology, and neurology patients. Responsibilities include administering moderate sedation, circulating for complex procedures, and collaborating with the healthcare team to implement patient care plans.
Requires a nursing degree and a valid Connecticut Registered Nurse license. Preferred qualifications include 2-3 years of critical care experience and BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
This nursing role is responsible for prep, recovery, procedural circulator and moderate sedation roles in Interventional Radiology and Neuro Interventional Radiology including circulation and moderate sedation. Procedures include thrombectomy, paracentesis, kyphoplasty, angiograms, venogram, check and change, Y90 Mapping & Treatment, lithotripsy, biopsies, embolization, and others. Assess patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care. Provide care for patient's pre, intra, and post procedures for all vascular procedures as well as the radiology and neurology population. Demonstrates competency in moderate sedation per policy, including administering the sedation, recovery process, reversal agents, and airway recovery skills. Develop and communicate patient plan of care reflecting patient issues and proposed interventions to achieve desired patient outcome. Collaborate with patient, family, and healthcare team in implementing plan for patient care and daily scheduling and management of cases. Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care as needed and appropriately refer for additional services where indicated. Demonstrates independence, sound clinical judgement, policy recognition and regulatory compliance. Work closely with Anesthesia in recovering adults' post-anesthesia administration. Asses the learning needs of the patient/family and provide education as indicated. Participates in Unit-Based Council, performance improvement, and risk-management activities. Acts as preceptor to new staff when requested. Responsible for being part of "restrictive call" per department's needs as a part of a fair and balanced schedule.
1) Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. 2) Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut. 3) Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually. 4) BCLS, ACLS, preferred PALS 5) 2-3 years' critical care experience preferred. This includes ER and related procedure experience.
