The counselor provides individual and group counseling focused on spiritual regeneration and addiction recovery for beneficiaries. Responsibilities include maintaining electronic files, facilitating process groups, and preparing discharge summaries and aftercare plans.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience or advanced coursework in chemical addiction and be willing to adhere to the doctrines of The Salvation Army. Proficiency in English is required, and bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred.

The counselor is responsible for advancing the mission of The Salvation Army as stated above. While all counselors are required to have either experience or formal education in the areas of addiction, counseling and mental health, all counseling is done for the purpose of spiritual regeneration of the individual.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and other qualifications requirements
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis 2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects and to reach overhead 3. Ability to lift 25 pounds 4. Ability to operate a computer 5. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
