The Surgical Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care while collaborating with the surgical team. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies and possess a current New York State Physician Assistant license. Certification from the NCCPA is required, along with strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our esteemed surgical team at a leading hospital in New York. In this role, you will work closely with surgeons and the healthcare team to provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures. As a Surgical PA, you will be an integral part of the surgical care team, assisting with a range of surgeries, from routine to complex, across multiple specialties. Key Responsibilities: Pre-operative Care: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, review medical histories, order necessary diagnostic tests, and provide education and counseling to patients prior to surgery. Intra-operative Care: Assist during surgical procedures by providing direct support to the surgical team, including suturing, specimen collection, and surgical site management. Post-operative Care: Monitor and assess patients post-surgery, managing pain, complications, and recovery. Provide discharge instructions, and ensure patients have appropriate follow-up care. Patient Management: Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for surgical patients.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient workflow in the surgical department.
Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program. Current New York State Physician Assistant licensure. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Previous surgical experience or a strong interest in surgery preferred. Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to think critically and make independent decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Ability to perform under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and poise. Willingness to participate in continuing education and maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical techniques and practices.
