Job Description: Radiation Therapist
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist, ensuring precision and patient safety throughout the process. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities: Administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients using specialized equipment. Position patients accurately to ensure effective and safe treatment. Operate and maintain radiation therapy machines, ensuring functionality and safety compliance. Monitor patients during treatments and report any adverse reactions or concerns to the medical team. Educate patients and their families about the treatment process, potential side effects, and post-treatment care. Collaborate with oncologists, medical physicists, Dosimetrists and other healthcare professionals to develop and modify treatment plans. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatment sessions. Adhere to safety protocols and radiation protection guidelines to minimize exposure risks.
Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field. Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or an equivalent credential. State licensure (if required by the state). Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide emotional support to patients. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with attention to detail. Preferred Skills & Experience: Prior experience in a clinical radiation therapy setting. Familiarity with different types of radiation therapy techniques, such as IMRT, SBRT, and brachytherapy. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Work Environment & Conditions: Outpatient Radiation Services administered weekdays only. Requires standing for extended periods and assisting patients with mobility needs.
