Responsibilities

• Assess patients, interpret evaluations and test results to determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
• Implement therapy programs to develop or regain physical or mental functioning; address activities of daily living, functional and prevocational skills, sensorimotor activities, and social/recreational tasks; supervise rehab aides and assistants.
• Promote maximum independence by tailoring therapies to each patient’s capacity, interests, and goals; educate patients, families, and caregivers; assist with return-to-work planning and job accommodations.
• Evaluate patient progress, document outcomes, and adjust plans as needed; coordinate discharge planning with physicians, nurses, social workers, and others; prepare home exercise programs and advise on outpatient or home health follow-up when appropriate.
• Maintain documentation in patient records; uphold patient confidentiality; comply with infection-control and safety policies; ensure equipment operation and preventive maintenance; participate in ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to team operations by providing information and training to Rehab Aides; engage in quality improvement efforts and stay current with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Active occupational therapy license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
• NBCOT certification (national registration) valid for practice.
• BLS certification required.
• Prior experience in an acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OT assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and patient-centered care principles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary, hospital-based environment; good communication and collaboration skills.
