The RCP provides direct respiratory care to patients in critical care settings, including intensive care units and emergency departments. Responsibilities include managing mechanical ventilation, administering therapies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure developmentally appropriate care.
Requires an Associate's degree, RRT certification from the NBRC, and an active Texas license. BLS is required upon hire, with NRP and RRT-NPS certifications required or preferred within specific timeframes.
The RCP performs the functions of a respiratory care practitioner in direct care. This position utilizes the respiratory care process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care and works effectively with members of the health care team, including the family in the provision of care to patients. The incumbent performs the functions of a respiratory care practitioner in direct care and utilizes the respiratory care process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Critical care settings are defined as intensive care units and/or emergency department.
