The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will primarily manage medications for ambulatory oncology patients, ensuring safe and effective use of treatments including chemotherapy, monitoring therapies, and educating patients and caregivers. Responsibilities also involve serving as a drug information resource, developing pharmacy programs, implementing quality initiatives, and participating in clinical research and teaching opportunities.
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or a Master's/Bachelor's degree with corresponding years of clinical pharmacy experience, along with a Registered Pharmacist license in New York State. Preferred qualifications include completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Residency or significant oncology pharmacy experience, and Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP).
Required Education and Experience License Requirement License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New York Education and Experience 1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree; or 2. Master’s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience; or 3. Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience. NOTES: 1. Incumbents must be credentialed as a member of the organization Medical Staff (Allied Health Professional) within four months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. 2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will have: Completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Practice Residency or Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a minimum of 1 year of oncology pharmacy experience; or Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a minimum of 2 years of oncology pharmacy experience; or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with a minimum of 4 years of oncology pharmacy practice experience. Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) Demonstrated experience in both practical and didactic training of pharmacy students and residents.
