The LPN is responsible for administering treatments and medications, performing patient assessments, and promoting wellness under the direction of a physician or RN. Key duties include collecting laboratory specimens, maintaining sanitary treatment rooms, and ensuring accurate patient documentation.
Candidates must be a Licensed Practical Nurse capable of performing clinical tasks like venipuncture and EKG operation. The role requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and flexibility with scheduling for early or late hours.
Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the performance of selected acts, including the administration of treatments and medications, in the care of the ill, injured, or infirm and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others under the direction of a registered nurse or a licensed physician. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for making decisions based upon the individual's educational preparation and experience in nursing. S/he is responsible for ensuring patient care is delivered safely, effectively, and efficiently. S/he may administer medications, perform assessments, take vitals, and promotes good health through education and counseling in the care and prevention of illness and injury. Daily activities are directly determined by the needs of the physician and patient and as outlined by the Care Team. S/he may serve as a designated Care Team Coordinator. S/he is responsible for accurate documentation of patient information according to license, assisting with procedures, data collection, autoclaving of instruments, keeping rooms sanitary, safe operation of medical equipment, entering orders, and handling prescriptions/prescription refills directed by the physician. Must maintain high level of confidentiality. Demonstrates all qualities associated with providing an exemplary patient experience for all patients. How will you make an impact & Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts. Performs venipunctures, collects routine laboratory specimens as directed by the physician, performs basic laboratory procedures, administers basic first aid, assists with or performing aseptic procedures. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials. Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and may perform other tests if trained: Holter Monitors, nerve conduction, PFT. Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests if trained. Keys data accurately into computer to maintain office and patient records with no errors. Keeps charts prepared and ready for physician and patient. Maintains high level of confidentiality and is flexible to schedule changes which may change to have early/late hours may be required.
